TANG Chinese Hand Tie-dyeing Cultural Event

Recently, the Tang Chinese team held a Chinese cultural event with the theme of “Experience Tie-Dyeing and Immerse in Intangible Cultural Heritage”, sharing expats in Guangzhou with the beautiful mystery of “between blue and white”.

Tie-dyeing, with a long history, is one of the traditional Chinese hand-dyeing techniques. The process of tie-dyeing typically consists of folding, twisting, pleating fabric or a garment, before binding with string or rubber bands, followed by the application of dyes. It has more than 100 variations of techniques, each with its own characteristics, rich color halo, natural changes, and endless fun. Weiwei introduces the history, salient features and process principles of tie-dyeing.

The process of tie-dyeing is mainly divided into four parts: “washing cloth – tying – dyeing- drying”. Under the command of the teacher, the attendances took the white cloth and tied it in different forms according to their imagination, and finally placed it in the dye tank. After washing and drying, the finished products were obtained.
